Submissions are open for the whiskey issue.
Please read through our guidelines before submitting.
From Bourbon to Irish to Scotch to Canadian to Vietnamese scorpion, we like it all. Starting April 15th, 2010 we will be accepting submissions for our second ever themed issue. We’re looking for poetry, fiction, non-fiction and artwork, all around theme of whiskey. We’re looking for work covering the gamut. Pieces do not need to be about whiskey, they just need to have whiskey in them (glass rings of Wild Turkey on the paper doesn’t count). Author of the best piece in the issue will be invited to come to Portland, get drunk with the editors and then pass out on one of their couches (flight not included, whiskey is). Submissions will be accepted until the issue fills up, with a hopeful release date around New Years.
Piece(s) and a bio should be sent as single attachment (this means everything as a single file). Word documents or Rich Text Files are the only acceptable format for attachment (no PDF’s and DO NOT paste poems into the body of your e-mail). The subject line of the e-mail should read: Poetry Submission-Your Last Name (i.e.: Poetry Submission-Miller).
Send them to: submissions@burnsidereview.org
Average response time is 1-4 months.
Simultaneous submissions are fine. No previously published work.
Payment comes in the form of one contributor’s copy. Burnside Review assumes the right to publish poems on their website as well as in the physical issue. All rights revert back to the author after printing.
We suggest reading a copy of the issue before submitting. At the very least you should read the poems here on the website, to see the kind of work we’ve published in the past.
